Siliphos is a type of water treatment product known as a “phosphate-based scale inhibitor.” These products are used to prevent the formation of hard water scale, which is caused by the buildup of minerals like calcium and magnesium. Siliphos is a type of chelating agent, which means it binds to dissolved minerals, such as calcium and magnesium, and prevents them from forming into hard scale on surfaces. It works by forming a thin, transparent, and non-toxic film on the surfaces that are in contact with the water, such as pipes and appliances, to prevent the buildup of scale. Siliphos is commonly used in residential and commercial applications, particularly in areas with hard water. It is also used in industrial applications such as cooling towers, boilers, and reverse osmosis systems to prevent scaling and improve efficiency. It’s important to note that while siliphos can prevent the buildup of hard scale, it does not remove existing scale.
