The gallons no longer count down

When the gallons no longer track correctly, your regeneration does not occur at the correct time. When the system sits longer than it should due to a lack of regeneration, your home can begin to experience hard water.

To check the Gallons Not Counting Down:

First, make sure that the system has been in the normal service position. The red valves should be parallel if they are in the normal position. If the system is placed in bypass, there would be no movement of gallons because there is no water flowing through the system.

Reinsert the prong/meter cable in the back of the control valve head and make sure it is inserted all the way into the meter insert. You should feel it drop down into the insert and not move down any further if it is inserted properly.

Next, make note of what the gallons are set at currently, and then run the nearest faucet to the water softener for 3-4 minutes. Check the screen and let us know if the gallons moved or if you see the flow meter indicator. If you do not see any movement in the gallons, then please also test a bathroom faucet as some homes may be plumbed differently but most homes almost always have the bathrooms plumbed to receive soft water.

If there are still no gallons counting down or flow indicator, then please press down on the prong connection so that the cord of the connection is pressed at a right angle. This will add a bit more angled pressure to the connection to see if the end of the prong responds to gallon tracking on the meter. After this is done run the faucets again to see if we notice the gallons are starting to count down or if you are seeing the flow meter indicator.

If the above steps do not correct the issue, follow the next set of steps:

For this, the system should be placed into bypass for now. Once finished with the troubleshooting steps, the unit can be placed back in the normal service position.

Disassemble/remove the bypass from the meter.

Inside the meter, there is a turbine. Blow some air into this turbine. It should spin freely. You should be able to blow enough air into the system to be able to quickly turn around and look at the screen. If the fan is still spinning you should be able to see the flow indicator appear.

If it does spin freely then no further action is required, and you may reassemble the unit and test the nearest faucet once more. Test the nearest faucet again after reassembling it and let us know the results.

If it does not spin freely or fails to make a smooth revolution, then there may be a clog. If you can easily detect/visually see the clog, then please remove the clog with tweezers or a fine needle nose plier. If you are not able to remove the clog and have confirmed that the turbine is not spinning correctly then please contact us back for further instructions. The turbine should be making smooth revolutions.

When finished and everything is reassembled make sure to put the bypass valves are turned back into the normal service position.
