The Fortitude Pro Series is designed for capable DIY installation. However, because installation requires cutting into your home’s main water line, Aquasure strongly recommends hiring a licensed plumber if you are not experienced with plumbing work.
Improper installation may result in leaks, system malfunction, or voided warranty coverage.
This article is intended as a general installation overview. For diagrams, fitting details, valve orientation, and startup programming, refer to the owner’s manual included with your system.
Before You Begin
Before installing the system:
- Confirm your main shut-off valve fully stops water flow.
- Verify incoming water pressure is between 20–75 PSI.
- Ensure the installation area is protected from freezing, direct sunlight, and extreme heat.
- Review the plumbing layout and determine the direction of water flow.
If your main shut-off valve does not completely stop water, contact a licensed plumber before proceeding.
Basic Installation Overview
Installation generally involves the following steps:
- Shut off the main water supply.
- Mount the pre-filter housing to the wall (minimum 25 inches of ground clearance).
- Install the sediment pre-filter.
- Connect plumbing to the pre-filter using proper fittings and Teflon tape.
- Mount the valve head onto the media tank.
- Connect the inlet and outlet plumbing to the control valve.
- Route the drain line to an appropriate drain location.
- Slowly restore water flow and check for leaks.
- Flush the system according to startup instructions.
The pre-filter must always be installed before the media tank to help maintain system efficiency as well as protect the tank, media, and control valve from sediment damage.
Professional Installation Recommendation
Although the Fortitude Pro supports self-installation, professional installation is recommended if:
- You are unfamiliar with cutting or modifying main water lines.
- Your home uses copper or galvanized plumbing.
- A plumbing bypass needs to be installed.
- Your system requires grounding continuity adjustments.
- You are unsure about local plumbing codes.
A licensed plumber can ensure proper installation, safe grounding (if applicable), and compliance with local regulations.
After Installation
After plumbing connections are complete:
- Slowly turn the main water supply back on.
- Check all fittings for leaks.
- Run water at the nearest faucet for 10 minutes to flush air and carbon fines.
- Perform an initial Fast Rinse cycle as outlined in the manual.
If leaks occur, immediately shut off the water supply and correct the connection before continuing
