The Serene Series is designed to operate with minimal maintenance. This article outlines routine inspection, pre-filter care, and NAC media replacement guidelines.
Routine Maintenance
Although the system does not require salt, electricity, or regeneration cycles, periodic inspection is recommended to help maintain proper operation.
Routine maintenance includes the following:
- Inspect all fittings and valves annually for signs of leaks
- Confirm the pre-filter is clean and functioning properly
- Replace the whole-house pre-filter according to the filter label, or at least every 9–12 months in areas with poor water quality
- Check the system area for signs of moisture, loose fittings, or changes in water flow
Performing these checks once per year helps support system performance and prevent avoidable issues.
Pre-Filter Replacement
The Serene Series uses a whole-house pre-filter installed before the salt-free conditioner. This pre-filter helps reduce sediment before water enters the Serene Series tank.
Before replacing the pre-filter, shut off the main water supply and open the nearest faucet to release built-up pressure. Press the red pressure relief button on top of the housing cap before removing the filter housing.
When replacing the pre-filter:
- Remove the filter housing using the supplied housing wrench.
- Discard the old filter.
- Clean the inside of the housing and cap with warm water.
- Do not use chemicals to wash the housing.
- Place the new filter inside the housing, making sure it is centered on the stand pipe.
- Check the O-ring for cracks or damage.
- Replace the O-ring if it is damaged.
- Reinstall the housing without overtightening.
- Turn the main water supply back on and check for leaks.
- Run the nearest faucet for 10 minutes to release trapped air or carbon fines if a carbon filter is installed.
After the pre-filter is replaced and the system has been flushed, the Serene Series is ready to resume normal operation.
Media Lifespan
The NAC media inside the Serene Series tank has a long service life under normal water conditions and does not require frequent servicing.
Typical NAC media lifespan is:
- Approximately 5–7 years
- In some cases, up to 10 years depending on water quality
Actual lifespan may vary based on water hardness, iron levels, overall water usage, and whether the system is operating within the recommended water quality limits.
Media Replacement Amounts
When NAC media replacement is required, the amount needed depends on your Serene Series model. Replacement media is sold in liters.
Use the following replacement amounts:
- 10 GPM model: 7 liters
- 15 GPM model: 10 liters
Ensure you purchase the correct quantity for your model before beginning replacement.
