Below are answers to common questions about the Quantum Series UV system.
UV Treatment Questions
What does a UV system do?
A UV system uses ultraviolet light as part of a water treatment setup for microbiological concerns, including concerns such as coliform bacteria and E. coli.
UV treatment does not remove sediment, chemicals, heavy metals, or hardness minerals.
Does the Quantum Series UV system filter sediment or chemicals?
No. The Quantum Series UV system is not designed to remove sediment, chemicals, heavy metals, or hardness minerals.
Water should be properly pre-treated before entering the UV chamber so the UV light can pass through the water effectively.
Does the Quantum Series UV system soften water?
No. The Quantum Series UV system does not soften water. If hardness is above the required operating range, a water softener or other pre-treatment may be needed before the UV system.
Maintenance Questions
How often do I need to replace the UV bulb?
The UV bulb should be replaced every 12 months. Even if the bulb is still illuminated, its disinfection effectiveness decreases after approximately 9,000 hours of operation.
How often do I need to replace the quartz sleeve?
The quartz sleeve should be replaced every 2 years. If your water contains hardness minerals, iron, or manganese, more frequent cleaning may be required.
What does the quartz sleeve do?
The quartz sleeve protects the UV lamp from direct contact with water. It allows UV light to pass through while keeping the lamp dry inside the chamber.
Operation & Troubleshooting Questions
What does the green light mean?
A green LED indicates that the UV lamp is on and the system is operating under normal conditions.
What does the red light or audible alarm mean?
A red LED or audible alarm means the system needs attention. The issue may be related to the UV lamp, lamp connection, ballast, quartz sleeve, or sensor components.
If the UV lamp has been in service for 12 months or longer, replace the lamp. If the alarm continues after inspection, contact Aquasure Customer Support.
Why is my water warm after sitting in the UV system?
Warm water can occur when there is no flow through the UV chamber because the UV lamp remains on during operation.
Run cold water from a tap for about 1 minute to flush out the warm water before use.
Why does my water look milky?
Milky-looking water is usually caused by air in the water lines. Run water until the air is purged from the system.
Power Questions
How much power does the UV system use?
The system operates on a standard 120V outlet and uses approximately 1.3 amps.
