The Aquasure Fortitude Compact is a point-of-use under-sink water filter system designed to connect directly to a cold-water supply line. It is available in two filter configurations, each using different media to support different water quality needs.
This article explains the differences between the Fortitude Compact models and provides general installation guidance. For full step-by-step instructions, always refer to the owner’s manual included with your system.
Fortitude Compact Models
The Fortitude Compact is offered in two configurations. It is important to identify your model before ordering replacement filters.
The available models are:
- AS-FC50-CK: Carbon/KDF Media
- AS-FC50-CKS: Carbon/KDF with Siliphos Anti-Scale Media
Both systems use Carbon/KDF media to reduce chlorine, heavy metals, and unpleasant tastes and odors. The CKS model also includes Siliphos media to help inhibit scale and corrosion buildup.
Flow Rate & Operation
Both models of the Fortitude Compact are designed to maintain strong water flow while filtering.
The system supports:
- Flow rates up to 2.6 GPM
The unit installs on a standard cold-water line and does not require electricity to operate.
Fortitude Compact System Components
The Fortitude Compact fittings are designed to support a straightforward under-sink installation without complex plumbing modifications.
The system includes:
- 1/2" to 3/8" quick-connect fittings
- Braided stainless steel hoses
- Quick-connect adapters
- Mounting hardware
Before installation, confirm all parts are included and undamaged.
Fortitude Compact Installation Requirements
The Fortitude Compact is designed for under-sink installation on a cold-water supply line. It connects inline between the cold-water valve and the faucet, treating water before it reaches the connected faucet.
Before installation, make sure the system is mounted:
- In a location where the cold-water line and faucet connection are within reach of the included hoses.
- At least 2 inches above the cabinet floor or mounting surface to allow enough clearance for future filter changes.
If you are not comfortable working with plumbing connections, consult a licensed local plumber familiar with your home’s plumbing layout and local codes.
Fortitude Compact Operating Requirements
After confirming the installation location meets the requirements above, verify that the cold-water supply line meets the following operating limits:
- Water pressure: 25–75 PSI
- Water temperature: 33°F–105°F
- Cold-water connection only
Do not connect the Fortitude Compact to a hot-water line. Hot water can damage the tubing and filter. The system should also be protected from freezing because the filter contains water and may be damaged if frozen.
Basic Installation Overview
The following steps provide a general overview of the installation process:
- Shut off the cold-water valve.
- Turn on the faucet on the cold-water side to confirm the water is shut off.
- Attach the system head to the mounting surface.
- Disconnect the existing cold-water line from the cold-water valve and faucet connection.
- Connect the inlet hose to the cold-water valve.
- Connect the outlet hose to the faucet connection.
- Connect the quick-connect side of each hose to the system head, matching the IN and OUT ports.
- Slowly turn the cold-water valve back on.
- Check all threaded and quick-connect fittings for leaks.
- Flush the filter for 5 minutes before use.
If your cold-water connection is 1/2", install the included 3/8" to 1/2" stainless steel adapters before connecting the hoses. Apply Teflon tape where needed on threaded connections.
Leak Check and Startup Flush
After the system is connected, slowly turn on the cold-water valve and inspect all connections for leaks.
If water leaks from a threaded connection, turn off the water supply and apply Teflon tape to the external thread before reconnecting. If water leaks at a quick-connect fitting, make sure the hose is fully inserted into the fitting.
Once all connections are secure, turn on the faucet on the cold-water side and let the water run for 5 minutes to flush the filter before use. Black or dark water during the first flush can occur as carbon fines rinse from the filter and should clear after flushing.
