Below are answers to common questions about the Dash Series countertop water filter systems.
Product & Model Questions
What is the Dash Series?
The Dash Series is a plug-and-play countertop drinking water system that connects directly to a standard faucet. It filters water without requiring permanent plumbing modifications.
What is the difference between the three models?
The AS-D100MCB uses a 2-stage radial flow and carbon block filtration system.
The AS-D100CER uses a 2-stage ceramic and carbon block system for additional particulate and cyst reduction.
The AS-D200UF uses a 4-stage system that includes ultrafiltration for reduction of bacteria, viruses, cysts, and suspended particles.
How many filtration stages does each model have?
The AS-D100MCB has 2 stages. The AS-D100CER has 2 stages. The AS-D200UF has 4 stages.
Filtration Performance
Does the Dash Series remove fluoride or dissolved minerals?
No. The Dash Series retains dissolved minerals. It is designed to reduce larger contaminants and certain impurities depending on the model.
Does the Dash Series remove bacteria and viruses?
Only the AS-D200UF model includes a 0.01 micron ultrafiltration membrane designed to reduce bacteria, viruses, and cysts. The other models do not include ultrafiltration.
Does the Dash Series soften water?
No. The Dash Series is a filtration system and does not remove hardness minerals or function as a water softener.
Installation & Setup
Do I need plumbing tools to install the system?
No. The Dash Series attaches directly to a standard faucet and does not require permanent plumbing modifications.
The included adapters are designed to fit most standard faucets. If the included adapters do not fit, consult a local plumbing or hardware supplier for the correct thread adapter.
What does the diverter valve do?
The diverter valve lets you send water through the Dash Series when filtered water is needed. When the filter is not in use, the lever can be rotated back to return water to regular faucet flow.
Why is my water cloudy after setup?
Cloudy water during initial use is usually caused by air trapped inside the cartridge. This is not harmful and should clear if the water sits in a glass for several minutes.
Filter Replacement & Maintenance
How long do the filters last?
All Dash models are rated for 800 gallons or 1 year, whichever comes first.
What does the LED light mean?
The LED indicator monitors filter life. A yellow light indicates less than 10% filter capacity remaining. A red light indicates the filters should be replaced.
Why do I see black particles during the first flush?
Black particles during the first flush are usually carbon fines from the filter cartridge. This is normal during startup and should clear after the system is flushed.
What replacement filter do I need?
The correct replacement filter depends on your Dash Series model.
- AS-D100MCB: AF-D05MCB
- AS-D100CER: AF-D05CER
- AS-D200UF: AF-D5SED and AF-D001UF
Confirm your model number before purchasing replacement filters.
Operating Requirements
What are the operating requirements for the Dash Series?
The Dash Series should be used within the required operating limits:
- Water temperature: 33°F–105°F
- Water pressure: 20–80 PSI
- Turbidity: less than 5 NTU
- pH: 4–11
- Hardness: less than 7 grains per gallon, or less than 120 ppm
- Chlorine: less than 2 ppm
- Total dissolved solids: less than 1,000 ppm
Do not allow the system to freeze, and do not connect it to hot water.
