The Quantum Series UV system uses ultraviolet light and electrical power as part of a water treatment setup. Proper safety procedures should always be followed during operation, maintenance, and service.
Always disconnect power before servicing the system or handling the UV lamp. The UV lamp should never be operated outside of the UV chamber, and users should never look directly at an illuminated UV lamp.
Quantum Series UV Light Exposure
UV-C light can be harmful to the eyes and skin if direct exposure occurs. The UV lamp should only be powered on when it is fully installed inside the UV chamber.
To help prevent injury, follow these precautions:
- Never look directly at an illuminated UV lamp
- Do not power on the lamp unless it is fully installed inside the chamber
- Always disconnect power before removing or servicing the lamp
- Never operate the UV system while the lamp is outside of the UV chamber
Direct exposure to UV-C light can cause serious eye or skin injury. Always handle the lamp carefully and only while the system is powered off.
Quantum Series Electrical Safety
The Quantum Series UV system operates using a standard 120V power supply. Electrical safety practices should always be followed because water may be present near powered components.
When servicing the system:
- Disconnect power before performing maintenance
- Keep electrical components dry
- Avoid handling plugs, cords, or ballast components with wet hands
- Do not operate the system if the cord or plug is damaged
- Do not plug in the system if water is present on parts that should remain dry
Following these precautions helps reduce the risk of electrical shock or equipment damage.
Quantum Series UV System Handling After Bypass or Service
If the UV system is bypassed, temporarily removed, or contaminated after the UV system, additional steps may be required before normal water use resumes.
In these cases:
- Shock the system with household bleach
- Allow the bleach to remain in the system for a full 20 minutes
- Flush the system thoroughly before returning it to normal operation
This helps ensure the water lines are properly treated before the UV system is placed back into service.
