Your Harmony Water Softener includes programmable settings that control when and how regeneration occurs. Proper configuration ensures efficient operation and consistent soft water performance.
Setting 1: Time of Day
During installation, you can adjust the system’s internal clock to match your current local time. The display operates in 24-hour (military) format.
The programmed time determines when scheduled regeneration occurs.
Setting 2: Regeneration Mode (TM, T, or M)
Regeneration mode determines how and when the system initiates regeneration. You can choose between time-based regeneration (T), usage-based regeneration (M), or a combination of both (TM).
- TM: Time Meter Delayed: Regenerates at 2:00 AM once the system reaches the programmed gallon limit.
- T: Timer: Regenerates based on a fixed time schedule.
- M: Meter Immediate: Regenerates immediately when the programmed gallon limit is reached.
Systems set to Timer (T) mode will regenerate at the scheduled time based on the programmed interval, regardless of how many gallons have been used.
Systems set to Meter (M) mode will regenerate immediately when the gallon limit is reached, regardless of the time of day and even if water is currently being used.
For most households, TM is recommended. This allows regeneration to occur overnight at 2:00 AM after the programmed gallon limit is reached.
Setting 3: Programming the Gallon Limit
Setting the gallon limit controls how many gallons of water the system can treat before regeneration occurs. When the programmed gallon limit has been reached, regeneration is triggered based on the selected mode.
The gallon limit should be set according to your system capacity and your home’s water hardness level. Refer to the Gallons Calculation Tool in your owner’s manual to determine the correct setting.
Setting 4: Time and Hour Override (t-h)
The Time and Hour Override (t-h) setting determines whether the system will regenerate after a set number of hours, even if the programmed gallon LIMIT has not been reached. It serves as a safeguard to ensure periodic regeneration.
This setting should remain OFF (default) unless specific adjustments are required.
Setting 5: Backwash Setting (BW)
The Backwash (BW) setting determines how long the system rinses the resin tank to remove accumulated debris and sediment. The default setting is 15 minutes.
Setting 6: Brine Draw Setting (BD)
The Brine Draw (BD) setting determines how long saltwater (brine) is drawn from the brine tank into the resin tank during regeneration. The default is 60 minutes.
Setting 7: Rapid Rinse Setting (RR)
The Rapid Rinse (RR) setting determines how long the system flushes the resin tank to remove remaining hardness minerals and excess salt after the brine cycle. The default is 10 minutes.
Setting 8: Brine Fill Setting (BF)
The Brine Fill (BF) setting determines how long water flows into the brine tank to prepare saltwater for the next regeneration cycle. The default is 12 minutes.
